Rent a car in Folegandros from the experts.
Folegandros is a small island of the southern Cyclades, 15 miles east of Milos, the neighbouring island that this site covers. A rent a car Folegandros plan suits that scale. The island holds three villages on one paved road, and a vehicle joins them. This page sets out the island first and then the port of Karavostasis, where the plan begins.
The layout is simple to read. Chora stands on a cliff, Ano Meria lies to the north-west, and Karavostasis is the port. A rent a car Folegandros plan has to respect that layout, the steep coast and the paved road between the villages. Beaches, churches and driving conditions come in later sections, each with its own detail.
How does rent a car Folegandros work at a glance?
A rent a car Folegandros plan suits a small Cyclades island of 32.216 square kilometres, where three villages sit along one paved road. Chora stands on a cliff, Ano Meria lies north-west of it, and Karavostasis is the port.
Folegandros is a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea. Together with Sikinos, Ios, Anafi and Santorini, it forms the southern part of the Cyclades. The island lies between Sikinos and Milos, 15 miles east of Milos and 22 miles north-west of Santorini. A rent a car Folegandros plan therefore starts from a clear position on the map. The surface area is 32.216 square kilometres, and the island had 719 inhabitants as of 2021.
The landscape is varied, with tall cliffs and a large cave. Folegandros is a mountainous, rocky island with steep coasts, and its main peak, Agios Eleftherios, reaches 415 metres in the south-east. No large rivers cross it, only torrents. The coastline runs for about 32 kilometres and alternates capes, bays and beaches. A rent a car Folegandros plan has to work with this relief, because every road follows the ground between cliff, farmland and sea.
Three small villages hold the island together: Chora, Karavostasis and Ano Meria. A paved road connects them. Chora is the capital and stands on the edge of a cliff that is 200 metres high. Ano Meria lies about 5.5 kilometres north-west of Chora, on the central road that ends at the port. Buses link Karavostasis with Chora, Agali and Ano Meria. A private vehicle follows the same road but sets its own route and its own stops.
A vehicle does not reach every corner of the coast. Katergo beach is accessible only on foot or by boat from Karavostasis, so a walking route stays part of the plan. The village of Chora, the farming settlement of Ano Meria and the port are the places where a car or scooter does its work. A rent a car Folegandros plan treats the paved road as the spine and the walking paths as its branches.
- Position: Folegandros lies between Sikinos and Milos in the Cyclades.
- Size: The island covers 32.216 square kilometres.
- Population: The island had 719 inhabitants as of 2021.
- Villages: Chora, Karavostasis and Ano Meria are linked by a paved road.
- Vehicle use: A rent a car Folegandros plan connects the three villages on that road.
A rent a car Folegandros plan reads best from the map facts: a small island, three villages, one paved road and a coast of capes and bays. Chora, Ano Meria and Karavostasis each have a clear role, and the vehicle joins them. The port of Karavostasis is where that plan meets the island, because every arrival by sea ends on its quay and the road to Chora starts there.
How does rent a car Folegandros begin at the port of Karavostasis?
A rent a car Folegandros plan begins at Karavostasis, the port of the island on its south-eastern coast. The village lies about three kilometres south-east of Chora, and its ferry pier is the arrival point before the paved road starts.

The port of Folegandros is the small village of Karavostasis, on the south-eastern coast of the island. It lies 102 miles from Piraeus and 32 miles from Naxos. The bays around the isthmus of Karavostasis are among the main inlets of that coast. Travellers who begin on the mainland can first read about a vehicle pickup in Piraeus and Athens and then treat the island vehicle as a second stage. A rent a car Folegandros plan starts again at Karavostasis, once the ferry has reached the quay.
The quay itself is recent. Karavostasis acquired a pier for ferry boats only in 1984. Until then, people and goods moved by small boats that met the large ships out at sea. The north winds add to the story, because the island is exposed to them for nearly the whole year, and in winter they reach a strength that stops even regular ships from approaching. A rent a car Folegandros traveller therefore arrives at a port shaped by wind and by a late pier.
The village has been classed as a traditional settlement since 1978. It had 84 residents in 2021 and 87 in 2011. The chapel of Agios Artemios stands at the port and counts as the oldest building, recorded from 1888. Old buildings called syrmata, where fishermen once hauled their boats out of the water, also stand in the village, and part of that group now holds bars. A rent a car Folegandros pickup at this port happens inside a very small village.
The road to Chora leaves the port and covers about three kilometres to the north-west. On that route stands the chapel of Agioi Anargyroi, and a little further on the chapel of Agioi Pantes, built into a rock. A renovated farmhouse of the early twentieth century, with its threshing floor, stands on the route towards Livadi. Beaches such as Vardia, east of the village, and Latinaki, to the south, sit close to the port. A rent a car Folegandros driver meets these landmarks in the first stretch.
- Port village: Karavostasis is the port of Folegandros.
- Location: The village lies on the south-eastern coast, about three kilometres south-east of Chora.
- Pier: Ferry boats gained a pier at the village only in 1984.
- Residents: The village had 84 residents in 2021.
- Vehicle start: A rent a car Folegandros journey starts on this quay and continues on the paved road.
A rent a car Folegandros plan gains its first fixed point at Karavostasis. The port is small, the pier is recent, and the road to Chora starts beside the water. Chapels, old boat-hauling buildings and the nearby beaches give the first stretch its landmarks. From this quay the vehicle follows the paved road to Chora and on to Ano Meria, which the following sections describe.
What does rent a car Folegandros look like along the road from the port to Chora and Ano Meria?
A rent a car Folegandros plan follows one paved road along the island, from the port in the south-east to the cliff-top capital Chora, about 3 kilometres on, and to the farming village of Ano Meria, 5.5 kilometres beyond Chora, in the north-west.
Seen on a map, Folegandros stretches from the port at its south-eastern end to Cape Kastellos, the north-north-western extremity. Cape Kyparissi is the westernmost point. Between these limits the coast is steep and rocky, and the capital and the farming village stand on higher ground than the harbour. For a rent a car Folegandros trip, that shape means one long axis and one road along it, with the three villages strung out in order from the port.
The high ground is divided between the two ends of the island. Four summits of 305 to 415 metres rise in the south-east, the end where the port lies, and two lower summits of 285 and 310 metres rise in the north-west. A rent a car Folegandros route therefore climbs in two stages: from sea level at the port to about 200 metres at Chora, then on to 265 metres at Ano Meria. Each stage ends at a village with a stop of its own.
Chora lies in the central part of the island, close to the east coast, about 3 kilometres north-west of the port. Ano Meria lies in the west-central part, about 5.5 kilometres north-west of Chora. Between those two points the road leaves the east coast and reaches the interior. A smaller settlement, Petousis, also exists on the island, but the paved road serves the three villages named above. In rent a car Folegandros terms, the distances are modest and the order never changes: port, Chora, Ano Meria.
The capital carries two names. Chora is also the name of the main village on Ios, Mykonos and Patmos, and the capital of Folegandros is additionally called the town of Folegandros, which is why the village and the island share one name. The road starts at the port and the rent a car Folegandros plan starts with it. The neighbouring island of Milos, which lies west of Folegandros, has its own page on renting a car on Milos.
- North tip: Cape Kastellos is the north-north-western extremity of the island, opposite the port at the south-eastern end.
- West point: Cape Kyparissi is the westernmost point of the island, west of Ano Meria.
- Small settlement: Petousis is counted among the smaller settlements of the island, alongside the port village.
- Region: Folegandros belongs to the Thira regional unit in the South Aegean region.
- Lodging: Lodgings stand in Chora, Karavostasis, Agali and Ano Meria across the island.
The map of Folegandros gives a rent a car Folegandros plan its order: the port at the south-eastern end, Chora about 3 kilometres on, and Ano Meria about 5.5 kilometres beyond Chora. Cape Kastellos and Cape Kyparissi mark the far limits of the same island. With the order fixed and the distances modest, each stop can be planned as a self-contained visit along one road, and the day can follow the map from end to end.
How does rent a car Folegandros work at Chora, the village on the cliff edge?
Rent a car Folegandros plans treat Chora as a village to cross on foot. The capital stands on the edge of a cliff about 200 metres high, and narrow paved alleys link its squares, so a rented car waits at the village edge while the lanes are walked.

Chora is the capital of Folegandros. It is built on the edge of a cliff about 200 metres high, on a steep rock, and the drop falls away below the houses. The cliff edge offers a view over the Aegean Sea. It is the first village after the port. On a rent a car Folegandros route, the capital is therefore both the first village on the road and the first place where driving gives way to walking.
The village spreads within and around the medieval castle that dominates the edge of the cliff. The houses are white, with colourful shutters and courtyards full of bougainvillea. Paved alleys wander through the narrow streets, and the houses gather around the castle. The architecture is traditional and the atmosphere is quiet. Those qualities define the rent a car Folegandros stop at Chora: the core of the village is a place for slow walking, and its narrow streets suit a visitor on foot.
The alleys lead to squares with large plane trees and traditional cafés. Chora has four squares, and among Cycladic islands Folegandros stands out for a capital shaped around them. The squares hold plane trees and cafés, which makes them natural places to stop. A visitor who has left the vehicle at the village edge reaches the squares on foot, and any rent a car Folegandros walk through the capital follows the paved alleys from one square to the next.
The same plan that keeps Chora quiet also keeps it narrow. The alleys are paved, the streets are narrow, and the cliff falls away at the edge. For that reason, the practical place to stop a rented car is at the edge of the village, and the lanes and squares are crossed on foot. A rent a car Folegandros day in Chora then becomes a walk from the vehicle to the castle, the squares and the churches.
- Seat: Chora became the seat of the municipality in 1835, after the Cyclades joined Greece.
- Residents: The village counted 455 residents in 2021 and 425 in 2011.
- Name: The residents of the capital are called Choraites.
- Churches: A good number of churches stand within the village.
- Municipality: The village belongs to the municipal unit of Folegandros within the municipality of Folegandros.
Chora is the place where a rented car and a walking visit meet. The road brings the vehicle from the port to the village edge, and the village itself is explored step by step between the squares, the castle and the cliff. Building that pause into a rent a car Folegandros itinerary keeps the day simple, with the vehicle parked at the edge and the whole village open on foot.
Where does a rent a car Folegandros trip go in Ano Meria and the north-west?
A rent a car Folegandros trip follows the central road to Ano Meria, a semi-mountainous farming village in the west-central part of the island. Houses and dry-stone walls lie scattered across the land in loose clusters, and farm settlements belong to the same community.
Ano Meria, also called Pano Meria, is the second large settlement of Folegandros and the more traditional of the two. It lies at an average height of 265 metres, on the central road that ends at the port of Karavostasis. The village is about 5.5 kilometres north-west of Chora, the capital built on the edge of a 200 metre cliff. A rent a car Folegandros route between the two leaves a cliff-top town and enters a rural landscape.
The village is not one compact centre. It consists of scattered dry-stone walls and clusters of houses, with old farmhouses known as themonies among them. The houses stand a distance apart from one another. The characteristic feature of these farmhouses is the tree house, a circular structure that protects a tree, mainly a lemon tree, from the strong winds that hammer the central ridge of the island. A rent a car Folegandros stop here is a stop in working farmland.
Wind and dry land explain the walls. The climate of Folegandros is dry, with extremely little rain, and strong northerly winds blow over the island for almost the whole year. The trees lean to the south because of them. Terraces protect the crops, a circular wall surrounds each fruit tree, and cisterns store the water because natural springs are very scarce. Knowing the wind makes a rent a car Folegandros drive through the village easier to read, because every wall has a job.
Four landmarks sit in and around the village. The church of Agios Georgios stands in the centre, and the old windmills are another landmark of the settlement. The fourth landmark, the folklore museum, has its own entry in the list below. Chapels surround the village, among them Stavros, Agios Eleimon, Agios Ioannis Prodromos, Taxiarchis and Agios Andreas. A rent a car Folegandros itinerary can join these stops in one drive, because the chapels surround the village and the church stands at its centre.
- Community: The community of Ano Meria covers 13.666 square kilometres of an island of 32.216.
- Settlements: Agios Georgios and Agali belong to the same community as the village.
- Museum: The folklore museum, founded in 1988, shows the traditional farmhouse with its well, oven, garden and wine press.
- Peaks: Merovigli at 310 metres and Prophet Elias at 285 metres are the peaks of the north-west.
- Lighthouse: A path leads to the lighthouse of Aspropounta, south of the village.
The community is classed as a rural, semi-mountainous settlement, and summer brings poetry, music and theatre evenings from the cultural association, together with the festival of Agios Panteleimon. A rent a car Folegandros plan for the north-west therefore covers a whole community of farmland, chapels and settlements, not only the main village on the road. The settlement was recognised in 1897 and became the seat of its community in 1912.
Which beaches does a rent a car Folegandros plan reach by road, on foot or by boat?
A rent a car Folegandros plan reaches the port beaches of Karavostasis and the Agali area by road, while Katergo needs a walk or a boat from Karavostasis. In summer, small boats serve the beaches that are hard to reach by land.
The coastline of Folegandros runs for about 32 kilometres, with capes, bays and beaches following one another along the shore. The coast of this small island is steep, and the cliffs are tall. The largest bay of the island is Agali, also called Vathy, on the south-west coast. A rent a car Folegandros route is therefore planned bay by bay, because each bay has its own approach from the road, from a path or from the water.
Agali is also the name of a settlement that belongs to the community of Ano Meria. The bus route links it with Karavostasis, Chora and Ano Meria, so the settlement sits on the road network. Lodgings stand there, as in Chora, Karavostasis and Ano Meria. Beside the southern bay of Agali lie three beaches: Fyra, Galyfos and Agios Nikolaos. A rent a car Folegandros driver can treat the three as one stop on the south-west side of the island.
Two more beaches lie at the port. Karavostasis beach is at the harbour itself, and Vardia is a little further east. Both lie close to where the central road ends, so a rent a car Folegandros trip that starts at the port reaches them first. Beyond them the known beaches of the south and west are Livadi, Livadaki, Ampeli, Dendro and Avlaki. Livadaki lies south-west of Ano Meria and Ampeli west of the village. In the north, the beaches are Serfiotiko, Lygaria and Agios Georgios.
Katergo, on the south coast, is the clearest case for walkers. The beach is accessible only on foot or by boat from Karavostasis, so a rent a car Folegandros trip to Katergo ends at the port and continues on a path or over the water. Naturists use the beach, and Latinaki is the other known beach on the south coast. In summer, small boats also sail round the island and call at beaches that are hard to reach by land.
- Karavostasis: The beach lies at the port, where a rent a car Folegandros trip meets the end of the central road.
- Vardia: This beach lies a little east of the port beach.
- Agali: The largest bay of the island has Fyra, Galyfos and Agios Nikolaos beside its southern bay.
- Livadaki: This bay lies south-west of Ano Meria, and Ampeli lies west of the village.
- Katergo: The beach is accessible only on foot or by boat from Karavostasis.
The beaches of Folegandros therefore fall into three groups: bays beside the road, beaches that need a path, and coves served by sea. A rent a car Folegandros trip covers the first group fully and the second group up to the start of the path. The third group depends on the summer boats. The neighbouring island has its own coast sorted by access, set out on the page about the beaches of Milos.
How does rent a car Folegandros fit the church of Panagia above Chora and the large cave?
A rent a car Folegandros plan treats the church of Panagia as a landmark above Chora, reached by a path that climbs in a zigzag. The large cave belongs to the tall cliffs of the island, and the caves of this protected habitat shelter the Mediterranean monk seal.
Above Chora, a path ascends in a zigzag pattern to the church of Panagia, a landmark of the island. A rent a car Folegandros plan therefore pairs a drive to the village with a climb on foot. The name Panagia means the All-Holy and is a title of the Virgin Mary, and Greek churches dedicated to her carry it as a rule. Chora has a large number of churches, and Panagia is the one that characterises the village best.
The zigzag shape has a practical purpose. A hairpin turns a road or trail back on itself, and a run of hairpins lowers the steepness of a slope at the price of a longer route and lower speeds. Chora is built about 200 metres above the sea, and the church stands above the village, so the path gains its height in steps. Walkers and drivers both pay for height with distance, and a rent a car Folegandros plan counts that cost.
The reward at the top is the view. From above, the houses of Chora lie below, and at sunset the sun sinks into the endless blue while the walls turn golden-red. A rent a car Folegandros plan can place the climb late in the day for that reason, with the vehicle left in the village while the path is walked. The church is a landmark that a visitor can pick out from the village itself.
The large cave belongs to a different kind of stop. The landscape of Folegandros is varied, with tall cliffs and a large cave. Caves on the island shelter the Mediterranean monk seal, which is believed to be the rarest seal in the world. Pregnant females use caves that are hard to reach, such as caves on remote or rugged coastlines. A rent a car Folegandros itinerary lists the cave under nature, because it is protected habitat for a rare animal.
- Church: The church of Panagia is a landmark of Folegandros above Chora.
- Path: A path ascends in a zigzag pattern from the village to the church.
- Name: Panagia means the All-Holy and is a title of the Virgin Mary.
- Cave: The landscape of the island holds tall cliffs and a large cave.
- Seals: A rent a car Folegandros plan meets a habitat where caves shelter the Mediterranean monk seal.
The church and the cave show two sides of the island. The church belongs to the village on the cliff, with a path to climb and a view to take in at sunset. The cave belongs to the rugged coast and to a protected habitat. A rent a car Folegandros plan keeps the two apart: a climb for the church, and respect for the cave. The next section turns to the conditions on the road itself.
Which driving conditions shape rent a car Folegandros on a small island?
A rent a car Folegandros plan meets four conditions on a small island: strong summer wind, steep climbs between settlements, narrow village lanes, and light open machines such as scooters and quads. Each condition changes how a vehicle behaves, so each calls for lower speed.
The meltemi, also called the etesian wind, is the strong, dry north wind of the Aegean Sea in summer, and it is the dominant weather influence of the region. It blows hardest in the afternoon and tends to ease at night, though a spell can run on without a break. It rises in clear weather without warning and can reach force 7 to 8 on the Beaufort scale. A rent a car Folegandros driver therefore meets gusts under a clear sky.
Wind turns hazardous when it strikes a vehicle from the side. A crosswind is the part of the wind that acts at a right angle to the direction of travel, and it equals the wind speed multiplied by the sine of the angle between wind and road. The sideways push therefore changes whenever the road bends. Gusts are hardest on vehicles with a large side area, such as vans and SUVs. Slowing down is the safest answer for a rent a car Folegandros driver in a gust.
The ground adds a second condition. Livadi stands at 60 metres above sea level, Agali at 140 metres and Ano Meria at 265 metres. Agali lies at the head of a bay, between Chora and Ano Meria, so the gaps between settlements bring climbs and descents. On a steep slope, hairpin bends trade a longer route for an easier grade. On the way down, a lower gear lets engine braking spare the brakes from overheating, and a rent a car Folegandros driver can use it.
Scooters and quads call for their own care on a rent a car Folegandros trip. A scooter has a step-through frame, smaller wheels than a conventional motorcycle and a transmission that needs no clutch, and the smaller wheels and shorter wheelbase help in narrow streets. A quad is built for a wider variety of terrain than other vehicles, yet the four-wheel type has a tendency to roll over, and fatal accidents are tied to rollovers. A quad also has no rigid cab to protect the rider.
- Wind: The meltemi is the strong, dry north wind of the Aegean in summer.
- Crosswind: A wind of 10 knots at 45 degrees pushes sideways with 7.07 knots.
- Heights: Livadi stands at 60 metres, Agali at 140 metres and Ano Meria at 265 metres.
- Fog: Southerly winds are rare, come in spring and bring fog that is thicker on land than at sea.
- Quads: A rent a car Folegandros driver sees that a four-wheel quad has a tendency to roll over.
Wind, slopes and light machines each ask for lower speed, and spring fog asks for the same on the rare days it arrives. A rent a car Folegandros plan keeps speed low wherever visibility drops. The same winds can stop ferries from sailing, so the sea crossing belongs to the wind plan too, and the ways of reaching Milos are set out on the page about how to go to Milos.
How does rent a car Folegandros follow the sea link from Milos?
A rent a car Folegandros plan starts from the position of two islands in the south-west Cyclades. Milos is the island at the south-western end of the archipelago, Folegandros lies east of it, and a summer sea connection joins their ports.
Milos is a volcanic island that lies just north of the Sea of Crete and ranks fifth in size among the Cyclades. Folegandros is a small island east of Milos and west of Sikinos, with Santorini farther to the south-east. A rent a car Folegandros plan therefore begins on a map of the southern Cyclades, where the islands stand close together yet remain separate landmasses with their own harbours, villages and roads, and the open Aegean Sea between them.
The islands of the Cyclades stand in two parallel lines, which gives the Western and the Eastern Cyclades, and Milos belongs to the western group. Its main port is Adamantas, the harbour town on the large bay that divides the island into two fairly equal parts. In the summer months this port has a sea connection with Folegandros, along with Sikinos, Ios, Santorini and other Cycladic islands. Pollonia, the smaller port of Milos, mainly serves the link with Kimolos.
The Folegandros end of the link is Karavostasis, the small port village at the south-eastern edge of the island, where the coast forms a bay around an isthmus. Folegandros has three villages, Chora, Karavostasis and Ano Meria, and a paved road connects them. The island covers 32.216 square kilometres in total, belongs to the Thira regional unit and had 719 inhabitants as of 2021. Sailors know Folegandros by the older name Polykandro, an echo of its ancient name.
Milos asks for a different plan. The island covers an estimated 151 square kilometres, nearly five times the area of Folegandros, with the plateau villages of Plaka and Kastro above Adamantas and an uninhabited, protected western part. Folegandros is a mountainous, rocky island with steep coasts. A rent a car Folegandros plan therefore deals with slopes and short links, while a Milos plan deals with larger distances between its harbour, its villages and its beaches.
- Milos length: The island measures about 23 kilometres from east to west.
- Milos summit: Mount Profitis Elias rises to 748 metres.
- Folegandros coast: The coastline runs for about 32 kilometres.
- Folegandros summit: Agios Eleftherios rises to 415 metres.
- Chora: The capital stands on the edge of a cliff 200 metres high.
A rent a car Folegandros plan that starts on Milos follows the map in order: the harbour of Adamantas, the summer sea link, the port of Karavostasis and then the paved road to the villages. Each stage belongs to a separate island with its own land, villages and roads. The questions below take Folegandros port by port, village by village and beach by beach.
Which rent a car Folegandros questions follow the crossing from Milos?
A rent a car Folegandros trip raises questions about the port, the villages, the beaches and the weather of a small island. The answers below stay with the geography of Folegandros and the sea link that reaches it from Milos.
Does rent a car Folegandros sit beside the bus service at the port?
A bus service links Karavostasis with Chora, Agali and Ano Meria, so a rent a car Folegandros choice begins beside a public service that already joins the port with the villages. Agali lies on the south-western coast, beside the largest bay of the island, and three beaches stand next to that bay.
What does rent a car Folegandros find in Ano Meria?
Ano Meria lies north of Chora and is the traditional farming settlement of the island, where the houses stand apart from one another. The village holds a small Ecological and Folklore Museum. The paved road that joins the three villages of Folegandros reaches it, so the northern part of the island sits on the same road link.
What does rent a car Folegandros leave to boat or foot?
Katergo beach is reachable only on foot or by boat from Karavostasis, so a vehicle stops short of it, and naturists use the beach. In the summer, small boats also circle the island and call at beaches that are hard to reach by land. The coast itself has tall cliffs and a large cave.
How do north winds shape rent a car Folegandros plans?
Strong north winds blow across Folegandros for almost the whole year, and the trees of the island lean towards the south. In winter the winds can grow strong enough to stop line ships from approaching the island, so a rent a car Folegandros plan treats the sea link from Milos as its first step.
Where does rent a car Folegandros meet the Livadi valley?
Livadi, the main valley of Folegandros, lies in the southern part of the island. The summits of Folegandros stand in the south-east and the north-west. The island has no large rivers, only torrents, and cisterns store the water. Terraces protect the crops, and a ring wall protects each fruit tree.
Does rent a car Folegandros cross a protected landscape?
The larger part of Folegandros is a protected Natura 2000 habitat of rock and scrub. Caves there shelter Mediterranean monk seals, and the protected species include endemic bellflowers, crocuses, vipers and falcons. A vehicle on the island therefore moves through a landscape that is protected for its rock, scrub, caves and wildlife.
What does rent a car Folegandros reveal about the history of Chora?
The ancient city-state of Pholegandros stood on the site of modern Chora, and a large fortress later rose on the highest point of the village. A poet of antiquity called the island iron for the ruggedness of its ground. Chora therefore carries the oldest history of the island on its cliff.
Which beaches lie near the port in rent a car Folegandros plans?
The beach of Karavostasis lies at the port, and Vardia lies a little further east. In the north, the beaches of Serfiotiko, Ligaria and Agios Georgios form a separate group on the other side of the island. Livadi and Livadaki are known beaches in the southern and western parts of the island.
